Library and Archives


 

The Foundation's Library and Archives is the largest repository soley dedicated to the Lewis and Clark material in the nation. Currently, the collection resides in the William P. Sherman Library located in the USDA Forest Service's Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail Interpretive Center in Great Falls, Montana. The Sherman Library is open to all.

The Foundation's Library and Archives assists nationally known authors, reporters, photographers, teachers, students, property owners, interpreters of the story and many others. The collections are non-circulating.  For information or to set up an appointment, call the office at (406) 454-1234.  Paid admission to the USDA Forest Service Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail Interpretive Center is not required to use the Sherman Library and Archives. Two forms  of identification are required to use the library and researchers must sign a use agreement prior to research.
